About

This blog

I am a genealogist and writer with a particular interest in history, languages and travel. I was born in Northern Ireland, grew up in Scotland and now live in the south of England. In between I spent several years working in France and my French is fluent. Perhaps because of my own background, I’m interested in the experience of travel and migration – whether it’s moving from one area to another, or to a different country – and my blog explores this.

My experience and qualifications

After graduating in history with Italian from the University of Aberdeen I went on to work as an editor of bilingual dictionaries and then a technical writer. For a number of years I’ve been a volunteer with both Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS) and the Chiltern Open Air Museum.

I also hold the Postgraduate Certificate in Genealogical, Palaeographic & Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde and I now run my own genealogy and writing business, SLEdWrite Ltd.

I am an Associate Member of the Society of Genealogists.

Please see details of my Services and Charges and do get in touch if you’d like me to do some work for you.
