After an initial discussion with you, I will draw up a free estimate of the amount of work involved and can then recommend which would be the best charging option for your project. This will be either on an hourly-rate basis, for an agreed number of hours, or at a fixed fee for a defined package of work.

My hourly rate varies from £20 to £30, depending on the type of service and the scope of the project. The extent of the planned work and the exact rate would be specified in a contract before any research is undertaken.

Expenses

Much of my research can be carried out online but sometimes it might be necessary for me to pay for digital or paper copies of birth, marriage, death or similar records. I would only undertake this after agreeing with you in advance and any expenses would be charged to you at cost.

In the event that I need to visit archives to complete research for you, this would also be agreed beforehand and travel expenses would be charged at cost.
